Installation of Unloading Arm for Cochin LNG Project

LNG unloading arms are the most important and critical unit equipped in the LNG receiving terminal, which require a higher stability for its installation to avoid any potential damages or leakage during the unloading of LNG from ship Usually these ULA's installed placing cranes on the Jack Up barge. However the sub soils under sea bed at Cochin LNG site could not hold the jack up barge and at this stage LOTS Shipping Limited, has given a solution for fixing the Unloading Arms (ULAs) from a spudded tidal barge with 300-ton crane mounted on it. The proposal was accepted both by EPC Contractors - Mis CINDA Engg. & Construction Pvt. Limited Petronet LNG. LOTS and its associate Company - Master Shipyard Pvt. Limited pioneered the spudded platform specific for this project requiring complex design, engineering, fabrication, erection on a 4000-ton dumb barge by fixing eight spuds. The four unloading arms were finally installed in place successfully on 15th November 2011.
